Online Dedicated servers, which let you play games with other users, can be used as alternatives to peer-to-peer networks. However, you can still use the Dark Souls Network (DSN) to play in co-op or single-player.

Summoning another player like this will nerf their stats and weapons down to your level. When a player defeats an overrunning phantom, their Estus Flask is restored. Players can no longer summon supporter phantoms successively when in combat with adversary phantoms.

Dedicated servers are now the norm. You can now play online with up to 6 players, and the game includes a password matchmaking system.

If you summon a new player, you’ll start with a unique character, and they’ll have no experience.
