Pokémon Crystal Walkthrough Version is the last of the second generation of the Pokémon video game series. This particular version of the game, based on the original Gold and Silver versions, adds new features.
It is the final Pokémon game for the Game Boy Color system. It was released in Japan on December 14, 2000, and was released internationally in 2001.

Grass has now spread across the eastern side of Route 36, west of Violet City. It has also been confirmed that Growlithe can now be caught here, allowing players to see Fire-types much earlier than they did in other versions.
In Pokémon Crystal, several Pokémon exclusive to either Gold or Silver, like Gligar and Skarmory, can be found. Other Pokémon, including Pinsir and Diglett, are only exclusive to the newer games, making this release a great way for older fans to catch up with the newer generation of Pokémon.
But certain species that were available in both versions, such as the Mareep family, are not available in Crystal. For example, Sneasel appears in the Ice Path, whereas in Gold and Silver, it can only be found in Mt. Dew.

Gameplay changes
Ho-Oh and Lugia can only be caught after completing the game and reaching Kanto. Still, they can only be detected if you can see them before being released into the wild. Ho-Oh can be caught after Raikou, Entei, and Suicune have been caught, while Lugia can be acquired after carrying the Silver Wing in Pewter Megacity.
Ho-oh, Entei, Suicune, and Lugia are all rare Pokémon. You can only catch Ho-oh, Entei, Suicune, and Lugia in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald, and the fourth generation games Pokémon X and Y. You can obtain these four Pokémon in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. Still, you can only get Ho-oh and Lugia.
The Ruins of Alph update features a new subplot; completing puzzles and hints will allow the player to unlock a secret message.
The Pokédex itself is filled with more interesting facts about the Unown than those given in the games. So the Pokédex app is a great way to learn more about them.
