The Long Dark Walkthrough; Welcome to my guide for The Long Dark’s Story Mode! I wrote this guide after seeing the sheer number of posts on the discussion thread relating to Story Mode and how they can be confusing and overwhelming.
Let’s get started. This guide will explain the basics of the game clearly and concisely. There will be spoilers. I’ve done my best to avoid spoiling any severe plot twists, but you may learn about characters and places before they’re introduced.
I am playing the PC version of The Long Dark, while the other console versions can be found here. However, The Long Dark has a few differences in the control scheme. While there are no fundamental differences, in-game mechanics, between the PC, Xbox, and PS4 versions of The Long Dark, there are controller differences.
In The Long Dark, you’ll often need to navigate through a long list of items and menus to find what you’re looking for. You can use the arrow keys to select items and move between them. Some shortcuts can help speed up navigation.
If you press the F button, the screen will show your character’s status – they are either hungry, tired, or complete. It’s the status screen that shows more details about your character’s condition.

What is The Long Dark?
The Long Dark is first and foremost an exploratory survival adventure featuring deep gameplay systems that will have you hooked for weeks if you go in with the right state of mind. The Long Dark puts you in control of the sole survivor of a plane crash in the Canadian Wilderness following a global geomagnetic disaster.
It may not be possible to know precisely what went wrong during development, but the game’s story mode will provide insight into the events that led to its release. The Long Dark tells the story of a small group of humans who get stranded in a remote part of Canada, and it presents the world they find there as a place where nature is at war with humanity.
The sandbox mode offers you a selection of challenges, ranging from small to huge, that take you through a range of different environments. You can then replay them any time, for the fun of it or just for practic
Episode 1 Gameplay Walkthrough
The long-awaited survival game, The Long Dark, is now available on Steam, the PlayStation 4, and the Xbox One. It was developed with Unreal Engine 4, and it has been in development for quite a while. That’s good news, as the game is looking good so far.

You can see the complete walkthrough below. To start, wake up Mackenzie and pull the piece of metal out of his hand. Then make your way into the cave, where you’ll need to start a fire.
Lay down some wood and then go into your inventory and click on some spare newspaper; harvest the newspaper and use it to tinder the wood, and then proceed to start a fire by clicking on the woodpile. This is the main task for the starting missions in the first chapter.
Use your bandages and first-aid kit to treat your wounds before resting. When you wake up, you’ll need to scavenge for more bandages and first aid kits. You can also try gathering plants from nearby areas that will help you heal faster.
